1.1.1 Data: The "Digital Blood" Being Infinitely Exploited

Data has long become a more precious resource than oil, but we are "donating blood for free" without any precautions.

  • When you open a shopping APP, your browsing history, search keywords, and stay time are uploaded in real time. Algorithms generate "user portraits" based on this to accurately push products, and even intentionally raise the prices of categories you often search for (i.e., "big data price discrimination").

  • When using a food delivery app, your home address, eating habits, and consumption ability are packaged and sold to third-party marketing companies, followed by an endless stream of spam text messages and harassing calls.

  • When registering on a social platform, you are forced to agree to "authorize access to address books, photo albums, and location information". This data may be used for "friend recommendations" or sold on the dark web at a price - a piece of "accurate data" containing name, phone number, and address can even be sold for up to $10.

According to the 2024 Global Data Privacy Report, the average person is tracked by at least 20 APPs every day, about 3 billion pieces of personal data circulate on the dark web every year, and 90% of Internet users have encountered "data abuse". However, due to "difficulty in providing evidence" and "high cost of rights protection", the matter is often left unresolved. Our joys, sorrows, and life trajectories are becoming "tools" for Internet giants to make profits, but we are powerless to do anything about it.
